The Board of Directors of the Shemer Art Center and Museum Association has elected Chris Orkild, a vice president and senior investment strategist at Wells Fargo, to serve as board member and treasurer of the nonprofit organization.
“We are pleased to welcome Chris as a new board member of our organization,” said Sandra Whyman, president of SACAMA, in a prepared statement. “We welcome his perspective as a resident of Arcadia and look forward to working with him to engage additional families like his in the neighborhood!”
Mr. Orkild has spent the past 20 years in the financial industry, currently working for The Private Bank of Wells Fargo, where he specializes in managing diverse and complex portfolios of stocks, bonds and other specialty assets, utilizing fundamental analysis, management assessment, valuation models and sales and earnings growth projections for selection of securities.
Prior to joining Wells Fargo in 1999, Mr. Orkild worked for Bank of America and the Resolution Trust Corporation in Phoenix, and States News Service in Washington, D.C.
According to Mr. Orkild, who moved to Arcadia just over a year ago, this position will provide him the opportunity to assist a neighborhood legacy while also meeting many of the residents.
“I was referred to the Shemer Art Center by Wells Fargo and like many Arcadia residents, the art center was something I have driven by numerous times but never had a reason to visit,” said Mr. Orkild. “Now that I have learned about its history and the resources it offers to the neighborhood and city, I look forward to working with other board members to share its story and help engage more community support.”
